In the process of carrying out construction work with concrete, one of the important stages is anti-shrink reinforcement, which reduces the formation of cracks in the process of concrete shrinkage. If previously steel reinforcing mesh and steel fiber were used for this, today polypropylene fiber took over the palm – the price of this fiber for concrete and its high technical properties allow it to compete successfully with metal fiber and mesh.

Polypropylene fiber  is a synthetic fiber with a diameter of about 20 microns, produced by extrusion from isotactic polypropylene and treated with a special composition to improve adhesion in the concrete matrix.

The main applications of polypropylene fiber:

• concrete floor device
• floor screed
• finished concrete products (trays, rings, etc.),
• dry mixes,
• production of foam concrete,
• production of paving slabs and eurofence

This is not a complete list of construction activities where polypropylene fiber is used. It is used in all types of cement mixtures – plasters, concrete, mortar, foam concrete, sand concrete, gypsum, etc.

Concrete product, in which polypropylene fiber is added, has several times greater resistance to shocks, cracks, chips and other damage. The use of fiberglass significantly increases the resistance of concrete to abrasion. Also, polypropylene fiber increases moisture resistance, which leads to a much less active absorption of moisture, dirt, chemicals. The frost resistance of concrete increases , which ultimately increases the life of the concrete product.

The main property that concrete with polymer fiber reinforcement acquires is its maximum resistance to microcracks at the initial stage of concrete hardening. Less microcracks at an early stage – less macro-cracks during the operation, which will lead to the destruction of concrete
